The legendary Hemi V8 engine is on its way out of production vehicles. Dodge will celebrate its exit with a series of “Last Call” special editions of its Durango SUV meant to highlight the historic engine.
Dodge Has Announced Last Call Before
Dodge did the same thing last year to celebrate the end of the Charger and Challenger, now out of production. The Last Call Charger and Challenger models included tributes to famous race cars and callbacks to historically important Dodge models. The last of them, the Challenger SRT Demon 170, was the most powerful production car the company ever built, with 1,025 horsepower.
The Durango Last Call models don’t mark the end of Durango production. It’s the engine that’s roaring off into the sunset for this model. The Durango will likely continue into 2025, available with engines from Dodge’s Hurricane inline 6-cylinder engine family.
The Durango was one of the last models carrying the Hemi. Ram has announced that the engine won’t appear in the 2025 version of its 1500 pickup. Jeep has removed it from its Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer SUVs. Chrysler ceased production of its 300 sedan at the end of 2023. We haven’t heard official word that it will disappear from the Jeep Wrangler 392, but that notice is probably coming soon.
Dodge hasn’t said how many Durango Last Call models it will offer. But it has unveiled the first of them.
SRT 392 AlcHEMI — The First Of the Last
The Durango SRT 392 AlcHEMI features honeycomb-textured dual exterior stripes with yellow accents, 20-by-10-inch Satin Black forged wheels, yellow SRT Brembo brakes, and yellow-accented 392 fender decals. Inside, yellow and silver stitching accents set them apart, along with embroidered 392 logos and a unique leather and suede steering wheel.
Dodge will build just 1,000 copies, available in Diamond Black, Destroyer Gray, Vapor Gray, or White Knuckle.
The Last Call edition carries an MSRP of $89,795 plus a mandatory $1,595 destination fee.
Because the exit celebration for the Durango Hemi lasts all calendar year, Dodge may sell some Last Call editions as 2024 models and others as 2025s.
As with the Charger and Challenger Last Call editions, customers won’t be able to order them. Instead, they’ll be allocated to dealers, with the “horsepower locator” tool on the DodgeGarage website telling buyers where to find them.
