GMC Teases 2025 Yukon Makeover

General Motors makes a bevy of full-size SUVs with much in common, like a family that puts many brothers into the NFL as linemen. You know the ones. Law enforcement agencies and even the U.S. military buy them by the gross. They follow the President’s limo.

Two of the group – the Chevrolet Suburban and Chevrolet Tahoe got a significant update last winter. The Chevy SUVs, we learned then, would get a tech-heavy refresh and a bold new look.

The GMC Yukon and its extended-wheelbase Yukon XL variant appear to be next.

GMC teased a refreshed edition of the Yukon this week. The company released a photo showing half of the front fascia. It wears a massive C-bracket daytime running light framing a wide hexagonal grille that may be less prominent than the giant grilles of the Suburban and Tahoe.

We can’t get much more than that from the photo. But the major refresh of the other brothers tells us that we can probably expect slightly different grilles for each trim level, a pair of giant screens inside, and a security function that lets you watch the car’s cameras from your phone when you’re away from it.

The mechanical bits are unlikely to change much, though GM did bump up the power of the available turbodiesel engine in the others, so that’s likely for the GMC versions.

We’ll know more soon. GMC says the model “will be revealed later in 2024.” Automakers rarely wait months for an unveiling once they’ve started showing images.

The last of the group is the Cadillac Escalade and its longer Escalade ESV variant. There’s been no word on an update for them for 2025. We won’t be surprised if one appears next. Cadillac dealers have enough new vehicles on their hands, and the all-new Escalade IQ electric SUV is headed to showrooms soon.
