Recall Alert: 2024 Cadillac XT5

Cadillac has issued a recall covering 74 Cadillac XT5 SUVs from model year 2024 because their airbags can tear as they deploy, rendering them ineffective.

Cadillac tells federal safety regulators at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that an airbag supplier “made a design change affecting a brief production window.” In testing, the supplier found that the change could cause tears in the bag as it deploys.

Dealers will correct the problem by replacing the airbag unit free of charge.

Some of the affected cars are likely still on dealer lots. GM has ordered dealers not to deliver those cars to buyers until the repair has been made.
